Terry came to us with a text file and a shopping bag stuffed with photographs. He had no money but a promise of some support from SIPTU.
But he was caught in a trap. SIPTU’s support would only come if the book was printed and he had no money to print the book.
So Printwell Design read and loved the work. We designed the book and wrestled with the text bringing the whole thing into a coherent whole.
Printwell Design then printed 3,000 copies for FREE and accepted payment on sales of the book. Within three months the printing
costs had been paid back in full thanks to sales on the back of the 1913 Lockout events
and also a contribution from SIPTU.
“Dublin Tenements” has been an outstanding success and has been praised by the President,
Michael D Higgins, RTE’s Joe Duffy, Nell McCafferty and many others.
The last box left Printwell in March 2014.
